22nd May 2023: The Rwanda Water Resources Board (RWB) hosted the water sub-sector's stakeholders for the Thematic Working Group (TWG) to discuss the progress on the implementation of 2022-2023 planned activities and key priorities for the next financial year 2023 -2024.

The meeting took place at the RWB headquarters on 22^nd May 2023, and was chaired by the Director General Dr. Emmanuel Rukundo.

He noted that, during his remarks, this is a platform to form a strong basis for the members of the Thematic Work Group who provide the needed guidance and technical support for Rwanda to achieve the planned targets in the water sector.

On the other hand, he reminded that the stakeholders’ partnerships are critical towards curbing the water related disasters.

"First, as you are aware, we recently experienced severe and catastrophic water-related disasters, which claimed the lives of many people, and damaged plenty of properties, especially in
the Western Province of Rwanda."

"That was a big recall that we still have a significant task ahead to deal with these climate change-related disasters Those unfortunate hazards were mainly caused by floods and landslides. Our thoughts and condolences are with all those affected," he said.
