UMUGANDA: NATIONAL WATER WEEK 2022 COMES TO AN END
26th March 2022: The National Water Week 2022 has come to an end with the community work 'Umuganda' to create trenches that prevent soil erosion in Kigali City's Gisasa Village, Ngara Cell, Bumbogo Sector, Gasabo District.
The community work, organized by the Ministry of Environment, was generally aimed at concluding the joint National Water, Forests, and Meteorological Week which involved a series of activities including community works.
This event has featured the Mayor of Kigali City Pudence Rubingisa, Director General of Rwanda Water Resources Board (RWB) Dr. Emmanuel Rukundo, Director General in charge of Lands, Forestry and Water at Ministry of Environment, Philippe Kwitonda, security organs, local authorities, citizens, media, among others.
The World Water Day 2022, which is usually preceded by the National Water Week, has been set for March 22nd, 2022, with the theme "Groundwater - Making the Invisible Visible," which has been translated into Kinyarwanda as "Amazi yo mu butaka: Umutungo kamere udufatiye runini."
