1st December 2022: The Rwanda Water Resources Board (RWB) and Enabel in Rwanda have hosted the second consultation meeting for the Rusizi Catchment Management Plan in Rusizi District.

The meeting has engaged various water stakeholders to identify strategic areas with a focus on both catchment management and landscape restoration initiatives.

In line with RWB's responsibility to establish strategies related to the protection of catchments, the institution has started the process of developing the Rusizi Catchment Management Plan.

Rusizi is one of Rwanda's nine water catchments, which are Kivu, Rusizi, Mukungwa, Upper Nyabarongo, Lower Nyabarongo, Akanyaru, Upper Akagera, Lower Akagera, and Muvumba.
