RWB, IUCN OFFICIALS MAKE A FIELD VISIT TO SEBEYA PROJECT ACTIVITIES

20th April 2023: Officials from the Rwanda Water Resources Board (RWB) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) visited various initiatives in the Embedding Integrated Water Resources Management (EWRM) Programme-Sebeya Project for a one-day field tour on 19th April 2023.

The purpose of the tour was to see how the initiative is tackling climate change and promoting sustainable management in the affected districts.

The officials include RWB Deputy Director General Evariste Nsabimana, IUCN Director General Dr. Bruno Oberle, IUCN in Southern and Eastern Africa (ESARO) Regional Director Luther Bois Anukur, and IUCN Programme on African Protected Areas & Conservation (PAPACO) Regional Director Mrs. Nana.

The delegation witnessed smart agriculture terraces created in Bigogwe Sector in Nyabihu District, and flood control infrastructures in Nyundo Sector in Rubavu District, Western Province.

The Embedding Integrated Water Resources Management (EWRM) Programme-Sebeya Project’s overall goal is to improve catchment management contributing to increased resilience of communities and landscapes to the impacts of climate change and other drivers.
