On March 28th, 2024, the Rwanda Water Resources Board hosted the second Technical Committee on Dams Meeting, focusing on the responsibilities, annual action plan, and status of ongoing dam construction projects in Rwanda.

The Technical Committee on Dams consists of nine members appointed by Ministerial Order No. 002/MoE/22 dated January 31, 2022.

Chaired by the Deputy Director General, Evariste Nsabimana, the second meeting of this technical committee took place at the Rwanda Water Resources Board headquarters.

During the meeting, the members discussed various challenges threatening dams in Rwanda and proposed potential solutions.

The committee also noted that Rwanda became a member of the International Commission on Large Dams last year.

Among the major ongoing dam projects are the Nyabarongo II Dam and the Muvumba Multipurpose Dam, expected to provide significant benefits.
