RWB HOSTS THE MULTI-STAKEHOLDERS MEETING

March 7th 2024: Rwanda Water Resources Board Director General , Emmanuel Rukundo, chaired the Multi-stakeholders Platform on Water resources meeting attended by the 2030 WRG 2030 Water Resources Group Program Manager, Regional Coordinator and other delegates of World Bank Mission.

Other participants included representatives of WASAC Group, ARCOS Network, Rwanda Mountain Tea.

In his opening remarks, Director General, Dr. Emmanuel Rukundo expressed his excitement to host 2030 WRG team and his hope for sustainable water security in Rwanda.

“We are honored to host the 2030 WRG mission team today in this meeting aimed at Strenghening Water Security in Rwanda.” He Said

During this meeting participants were briefed on responsibilities of about Rwanda Water Resources Board’s and the Multi- Stakeholders Platform.

Additionally the meeting discussed constraints in water resources management, investment priorities in water sector and the need for advancing Rwanda Water Fund, Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES), and circular economy of water resources.

The key responsibilities of the Multi- Stakeholder Platform are; to advise on aspects related to water security, flood mitigation, planning for water storage, droughts mitigation and other aspects of water resources management; to advise technically the Policy Consultative Committee; and to advise on projects or on draft laws related to water resources management at national, regional and international level.
