RWB HOSTS THE 5TH MUVUMBA PROGRAM STEERING COMMITTEE
25 June 2024: The Rwanda Water Resources Board (RW) hosted the 5th Program Steering Committee for the Muvumba Multipurpose Water Resources Development Program.
This meeting was preceded by the 9th Technical Advisory Committee on 24th June 2024.
In his Opening Remarks, William Mugabo who was representing the PSC Chairperson, welcomed the participants and highlighted the program components, importance of the project specifically to Nyagatare district and urged participants to continue providing their full support to the program.
The PSC assessed the implementation progress of the Muvumba Multipurpose Dam construction activities, and gave the recommendations to address current challenges.
Additionally, The PSC noted the prepared Action Plan and Budget for 2024/2025 and approved it.
The Muvumba Multipurpose Water Resources Development Program will construct a dam that impounds 55 million m3 of water.
The water will be used for irrigation of 9,640 ha, livestock watering, supply 50,000 m3/day water for domestic water use, and a 1MW hydropower plant.
