22^nd August 2023: RWB technical team and SAMAN Corporation (Korean Consultants) conducted an interim meeting for the ongoing project titled: ‘’Master Plan for Water Resources Development in Mbuye, Ruhango District’’; which is t being implemented in collaboration with Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute (KEITI) under the support of the Ministry of Environment of Korea.

The primary goal of this project is to assess the feasibility of developing a multipurpose dam for domestic water supply, irrigation, livestock watering and hydropower while ensuring the sustainability of the resources and building resilience against climate change and variability.

In this meeting SAMAN Corporation presented 6 identified potential sites that have been identified for developing a multipurpose dam in the study area. The project is expected to provide a final report of water resources assessment in Ururumanza sub-catchment and 2 prefeasibility study reports of potential projects to be identified.

In April 2023, Rwanda Water Resources Board and Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute (KEITI) signed implementation agreement for “Master Plan for Water Resources Development in Mbuye, Ruhango District”.
