RWB DG, ATTENDS THE 10TH WORLD WATER FORUM
Dr. Emmanuel Rukundo, the Director General of the Rwanda Water Resources Board, attended the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia from 18th to 24th May 2024.
The forum, themed "Water For Shared Prosperity," brought together heads of state, international organization leaders, government officials, experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, and economists from around the world to exchange knowledge and experiences on a wide range of water-related topics.
Dr. Rukundo, who was also a participant, highlighted Rwanda’s progress in promoting integrated water resources management (IWRM), such as the establishment of the National Water and Sanitation Policy and National Environment & Climate Change Policy. He emphasized how IWRM is incorporated into the RWB’s regular activities, from addressing water quality issues through catchment restoration to managing flood risks and issuing water use permits.
Dr. Rukundo also joined a regional session discussion panel, where he emphasized the important role of citizen science, remote sensing, GIS, and artificial intelligence in catchment management, monitoring, planning, and finance.
