RWB AND PARTNERS ON FLOODS AND EROSION CONTROL MEASURES IN MUGOGO LOWLAND AND VOLCANO AREAS

8th April 2022: RWB, LODA, and Reserve Force have gathered for a technical meeting and visit to discuss long-term measures to combat floods and soil erosion in Mugogo lowland and Kazirankara river located in Giciye and Mugogo sub-catchments.

The joint team visited various affected spots in Musanze and Nyabihu districts.

During this two-day fieldwork, RWB’s technical team, which included the Director-General, Dr. Emmanuel Rukundo, Deputy Director-General, Evariste Nsabimana, and Flood Management and Water Storage Development Division Manager, Davis Bugingo, later assessed various activities implemented as part of the ongoing Floods Management in Volcanoes Region Project.

These include flood control infrastructures such as water ponds, diversion channels, bridges, and gully protections in Muhabura, Mbandana, Nyabutoshwa in Burera District, and Nyabyungo, Cyabirego, Muhe in Musanze District in Northern Province.
