Water Monitoring and Quality Control Division

The Water Monitoring and Quality Control Division is responsible to ensure that hydrological and hydrogeological data is collected and disseminated to stakeholders for use by different sectors. It is also in charge of water quality data collection and dissemination, and ensuring that water pollution is investigated and remedial measures are proposed where degradation occurs.

Overview

The Division’s main functions include:

Implementation:

  • Installing and monitoring streamflow, water level, and quality monitoring stations
  • Compiling regular water status reports

Monitoring and enforcement:

  • Conducting initial investigations of pollution spikes before handing over to enforcement institutions

What do we do?

  • Collect data on surface water quantity and flows,
  • Measure water quality and take samples to assess from many sources,
  • Collect data on groundwater quantity,
  • Install, manage, and extend the water monitoring network,
  • Investigate spikes in pollution, gather additional data on quality and information on nearby activities
